We chose the name Wootz as a tribute to the legendary crucible steel known for its incredible sharpness and resilience. Founding vision
Wootz didn’t start in a boardroom; it started with a laptop and a frustration with the “Xero-tax.” As a solo founder in Auckland, I saw how much mental energy my peers were wasting on complex financial admin. The software meant to “save time” was actually becoming another chore.
I looked back at history for inspiration. Wootz steel was the world’s first high-performance alloy—prized for its ability to hold an edge that could cut through anything. That’s exactly what I want to build for the business world: a tool that cuts through the administrative noise.
