Xero raised its New Zealand plan prices on 1 October 2026. If your subscription just went up, here is what changed, what you now get on each plan, and how to work out whether it is still the right fit.
New Xero prices in NZ
| Plan | Before | From 1 Oct 2026 | Change | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ignite | $35/mo | $37/mo | +$2 | 20 invoices, 5 bills |
| Grow | $83/mo | $89/mo | +$6 | 1 payroll person, 1 expenses user |
| Comprehensive | $110/mo | $117/mo | +$7 | Multi-currency, 5 payroll people |
| Ultimate | $125/mo | $135/mo | +$10 | Multi-currency, 10 payroll people, projects |
All prices exclude GST. Xero is also phasing out its multi-organisation discount, and extra payroll employees on Ultimate moved from $1 to $2 per person. Check the Xero NZ pricing page for the latest figures.
What the increase means over a year
On Grow, the extra $6 a month adds $72 a year, for a total of $1,068 + GST. On Comprehensive, you are now paying $1,404 + GST a year. Add any paid apps connected to your file and the real cost is often higher.
Do you need the plan you are paying for?
Look at what you actually used over the last three months:
- Did you send more than 20 invoices a month? Ignite caps you at 20 invoices and 5 bills.
- Do you invoice overseas clients? Xero's multi-currency starts on Comprehensive.
- Do you run payroll for more than one person?
- Do you rely on bank feeds or connected apps every day?
Your options
Stay and review your plan
If you depend on bank feeds and add-ons, staying can be the sensible call. It may still be worth checking whether you can move down a plan.
Look at an alternative
If you mainly invoice, track expenses and prepare GST, a simpler tool may cover it for less. Wootz starts at $12/mo + GST with multi-currency and te reo Māori invoicing included, though it uses secure CSV bank import rather than direct bank feeds.
